RP rant
I'm in a mood to rant and rant I shall! Since the issue is with a recent RP, I'll give my views on the whole, LONG freaking...thing. Yeah, thing.
I don't even know where to start. Huge, massive, gargantuan subject. Let's just start with Hika's outline.
RP ettiqette: This was the main thing that pissed everyone off. I won't go into detail because it's all right here. I completely and absolutely agree with those rules. They're really common sense things. Sadly, some lack common sense and therefore screw up. Badly. A LOT. Still, I'll go and tell you what I think on each subject. Also, does the white text on black blind you? Is it just me? XD;
1. God-Mode
This is just a DUR thing. Nonononono! You can't do it. Why would I want someone else to control my character? Do THEY know what makes my character tick? I think not! I'm the only one who gets to decide what my character does and how they react. ONLY the creator really knows this stuff.
Example: My Casimir was on a rampage in town. There was a fight. If the other three characters had their way, they would have killed him off. In the FIRST posts! Jerks. What fun would that be?
2. Power Playing
A lesser of two evils but the same damn thing in my mind. You CAN'T force another player to do something. You MUST give them a chance to react themselves. If they're playing fairly and realistically, things will play out in a way that both players are happy. If not, oh well. Go cry me a river.

3. Drastic Plot Devices
Aw hell, I'm guilty of this one. SHUSH you people! You can't go and blow up a city (it was only half the city, in my defense =P) and not give people a chance to react. We left someone out of an RP and that's what spurred this whoooole thing. Typically, I would never do this. In this instance, I got carried away. I dunno...destruction just makes me all excited. I'm a freak, I know X3.
4. Spell check
Yes please :3 I consider myself a good speller (i R smahrt!) but I make a lot of mistakes. Most of the time I catch them and correct them. Sometimes, I don't. I think faster than I type and I get quite a few letters in words switched around and/or forgotten. Spell checking just makes for an easier read.
This stuff is expected across the board in any decent RP forum. It's easy! People tend to make it harder than it is :/
RP Technique Now, the thing about this subject is that it's SOSOSO dependent on you own personal views. What Hika says makes a whole lot of sense to ME but other opinions may differ.
FIRST THOUGH, I MUST ADD MY OWN PET PEEVES! Hooray! The following items were not mentioned so I'll do it! I think these are just as important as characters.
1. Grammar, grammar, GRAMMAR!!11! OMFG it bugs me to no end. I'm not perfect but damn it to hell, I paid attention while I was at school. I could be rusty though. If you can't form a proper sentence or can't use a period or apostrophe correcty, etc...*STABSTAB* GO BACK TO SCHOOL. I will NOT read a post that is one giant run on sentence with no punctuation. ALSO, another problem I see quite often is people fucking up their tenses.

I hate it. While I'm horrible at math, I'm good at english! *insert sparklies* I know that there's many people who speak/read a different language other than enlish as their first language. The internet is a big place but STILL. Just ASK! ASK FOR HELP! This goes for those whose native language IS english too! That's the worst part. Those are the people that piss me off. Yes, I do realize there are some younger RPers/writers but I don't CARE. It's not hard to learn.
2. One liners. Oh gawd. This takes me back to my first days as a noob RPer. I never did this, actually, but some people did. Tell me one thing...
WHAT THE HELL CAN YOU ACCOMPLISH IN ONE LINE?!?!
Nothing. Nada. YOU SUCK. Try to at LEAST write a paragraph? Lately, my RP skills haven't come out of hibernation. I have some short posts these last few days and it makes my eyes bleed (figuratively) to read them. I really must fix that.
3. READ EVERYONE'S FUCKING POST THAT YOU ARE RPING WITH! Personally, I was blamed and complained about for things I did NOT do because people didn't read the posts right (or at all). YES, KLEIN, I MEAN YOU! It goes for everyone.
I'll probably think of more later but those are the main things that bug me.
Characters
Oh joy. Here's my take on MY profiles really quick.
Unless people ask for extra detail, I put the basics and what is asked for. I honestly don't think people want to read a profile that is pages and pages long. I always write a long, detailed one for myself to reference and build my character from. So, on the outside, my profiles aren't much to look at. I don't care if someone doesn't like that. NYAH!
I really, really try to make unique (not freakishly one of a kind), interesting characters. Do NOT judge them by a short profile. I'll likely come after you with a pitchfork. <3
Dark, Angsty, Emo
Am I guilty? Oh yes, I am SO guilty. Did I pull off a good angsty/emo character? I dunno. I think this is all in the eye of the author. Of course we don't want a cliche character and that seems to happen a lot with these sorts. I'm not crazy about them but they exist.
Almighty One
I hate them. They're unrealistic and ALWAYS annoying. I'll use Minane's character as an example. To be blunt, I did NOT like Lehana/Dominance. A little girl with super human powers is just irritating. She said that Lehana had weaknesses but I saw none!
Hika's words~ "Be more sadist! Relish in your character getting hurt! BECAUSE IT'S MORE FUN HAHAHAHAHA (is killed)"
You're speaking my language! Casimir will do just that XD!
Mysterious One
I think this type tends to run with the dark/angsty characters. I think they're boring. I don't like to RP with them D:
Speshul Snowflake
I love that name xD They shouldn't exist. Ever. I think this is a cry for attention from the player *is killed*. Give me a good reason why I should pay attention to this character? :/
STEREOTYPING
I hate this more than ANYTHING!!1 I'm sorry, Klein, but your paladin annoys me to death *stabs*
Example: I will save the day because I am holy and without evil!
Wtf...yes I DO have an affinity for evil characters but goody good characters annoy me. YOU ARE NOT PERFECT AND PURE. "Good" guys are fine but no one is pure and all righteous.
Just because a character is in a certain job class (RO or any other type of RP), doesn't mean that they have to fit in the mould. PLEASE, please, please give them a personality. Everyone has quirks and unique things about them.
A well rounded character should be realistic in any RP, no matter what type of character. Flaws, good skills, personality, weakness, strengths etc. are all key.
By the way, I DO have a life but I also have a computer in my office at work that I can use to RP ALL DAY LONG! /speshul!

EDIT: I'm done being emo and defensive and feeling insulted over silly things xD I am! I feel this way for a number of reasons.
1. Mainly, I'm a happy person in general. I'm lazy laid back and almost always in a good mood. I really try not to be bitchy at people because, well, I like to keep the peace. This is why I'm going to actually start writing in this thing. To vent! Yay :3
2. Discussion! To discuss things like civilized people is always a good thing. I like discussion! I feel that me, Hika and Fukys pretty much feel the same. Right? RIGHT?? I think. I could also be wrong X3 Pshh, I'm always right! XD; Or not...
3. Ranting in a journal is good for you. It makes me feel better and I can say WHATEVER I WANT! HA! We've mentioned this already xD Free speech ftw! While it may offend people, it's still your own journal and they can't do NOTHIN' about it! Is that mean? Nah.
It's a big subject but I do feel that I ought to go back and reevaluate my characters...but...but...
I said I was done being emo! (Yes, but I don't wanna =/) Tellie is stubborn. VERY stubborn. It's worth a look though, right.
